This beautifully crafted dual-purpose pen is one of my finest. The stabilised burr provides a unique pattern that compliments both the fountain and rollerball configurations. The gunmetal grey contrast with the pink in the wood and the gold nib to make this a stunning pen. It sits nicely in the hand and is weighted brilliantly. The cap is postable (fits on the end of the pen when writing) but I think it's weighted nicely without it.
The Kappa boasts elegant circle designs inset on the cap, centre band and barrel ends that have plated in Titanium Gold.
Available in Fountain Size 6 nib (including refill and Converter) or Rollerball (Schmidt 5888 refill).
This fantastic pen comes with both rollerball and fountain pen attachments. You also get an ink cartridge, a refillable reservoir and a high-quality rollerball refill, so you're getting two great pens in one. It comes with a tied velvet pouch.
Wikipedia says: Eucalyptus oleosa, commonly known as the red mallee, glossy-leaved red mallee, acorn mallee, oil mallee or giant mallee, is a tree or mallee that is native to Australia. The leaves were once harvested for the production of cineole based eucalyptus oil.
A burr is a tree growth in which the grain has grown in a deformed manner. It is commonly found in the form of a rounded outgrowth on a tree trunk or branch that is filled with small knots from dormant buds. Stabilising is when all the moisture and air pockets in the wood are replaced with an epoxy resin in a high-pressure vacuum chamber. The result is a very charming and long-lasting effect that won't fade, crack or shrink. It is finished with 15 coats of CA (Cyanoacrylate) and highly polished to give it an extremely high gloss that will last for years.
Every pen I make is unique and another will never be made like it. If you want it, buy it because you won't find another like it.
